easy 24mi.
Note: feel free to park on either side of the dam. We will all meet on the east side (Quaker Ridge). There is a little bit of dirt, some paved road, and some rail trail. Easily doable for D riders. Helmets, cell phones, IDs, and good cheer required!
By this time last year, I'd forced Keeler onto myself a number of times, and I was a better rider for it than I am now. It's time to get back to it and try to restore the missing climbing legs. Guinea is a nice climb too, if not in the same category. The route finishes with solid power on the flats as we come up 100 and hang the right on 35 back into Katonah. Please be ready to pull through and help me out. I'll need it. No planned stop.
Want to be home by noon? Then this no-nonsense, no-mid-ride-stop morning ride may be right for you! I'm looking to do a chill ride where people push it on the hills (if they want to) but then regroup and generally stay social instead of chasing averages. Suffering and socialization do not have to be mutually exclusive! There's an optional post-ride coffee at the Briarcliff Starbucks if we feel like it.
While there are plenty of hills on the route, none are gratuitous. Lots of quiet back roads, or at least as quiet as they get around Westchester.
Merritt North to High Ridge Road Exit - Left onto High Ridgethen Right into commuter lot.
Route has some extra climbing due to closure for bridge repair on Lakeside Drive
apologies - Route is 47 miles
This is a scenic but fairly hilly route through Northern Westchester. Stop at Mile 22 in Yorktown. If the Trailway parking lot is full, you can park just up the road on the dirt by the side of the road. Safety talk at 8:40. My cell - 914.980.4703
I love the area around Lake Mahopac and this ride encompasses that plus a side trip out to West Branch Reservoir and Croton Falls Reservoir. We have a stop at a small deli shortly before the midpoint.
There are some hills and it's a decent bit of total elevation, but appropriate for a late season challenge. Ignore the alleged 13.7% grade that RWGPS claims is there. It's more like 11 and very brief. We'll slow down as needed and prioritize keeping the group together. Given the distance and terrain, planning on a 10 pace. Please bring snacks, helmets, and hydration.
Just starting your cycling journey, new to the area, looking to join Westchester Cycle Club or have a crew for a casual weekend ride? This WCC & Danny's Cycles combined ride is perfect for you. Make sure you come with your tuned up bicycle, HELMET is mandatory, hydration and a smile.
Advanced sign up is mandatory!
All riders will get 10% off any accessories and parts purchased the day of the ride at Danny's Cycles - Rye Brook. For every $25 spent, riders will get a raffle ticket towards a FREE General Tune Up Voucher that can be used at the Danny's Cycles in Rye Brook.
We will meet at Danny's Cycles, 10 Bowman Ave, Rye Brook, NY 10573. There is parking in that front and back. Please come with a bicycle in reasonably good repair, a helmet (required), a water bottle, and comfortable clothes for riding. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to gear up and sign in. If you forget anything at home, Danny's will be open for you to shop!
Ride with GPS Cue Sheet (RWGPS) cue sheet will be posted. I'll also bring hard copies.
Looking forward to seeing you, Amy & Christiana
Cue to follow.
standard route to Ridgefield, return Vis Umpawaug Georgetown and Mountain Road.
couple of tough hills, then all fun
Let's take advantage of a sunny day without rain in the forecast! We'll ride on familiar North Westchester and Fairfield roads to LaRocca's in North Stanford. Come prepared with plenty of hydration, your usual snacks, tubes and a pump or cartridges and a big smile. We will take our break, of course, at La Rocca's! I hope you can join me.

*Unaffiliated RideThe traditional WAG route that involves a fair bit of climbing (Sherwood, Whippoorwill, Baldwin) and some fast descents including down Round Hill near the end. This group will likely have a pace in the 18-20 mph range.
There are two regroups; after descending the Whip and after Middle Patent. No headphones, helmets a must.
Special guests likely. Chicken nuggets available apres WAG.
An spring evening ride on the trailway is like dessert for the day- A cupcake with icing- A mango sorbet.
I'm going to try to post this every week (except when I can't lead), so please join me if you can.
You can think of this as a recovery ride from the weekend, a training ride for a Bike Path Centuryor anything in between.
My only goal is enjoyment, so I am happy to accomodate and adjust speed/distance to the needs of the group. We will ride south or north or maybe both.
Be ready to roll at 6.
This is a Sind up for any or all of the rides on the weekend.
DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU SO NOT HAVE A RESERVATION ON MARTHA's Vineyard.
Make Certain you are coming, and please add Hotel and days you will be riding with the group as well as your preferred pace and mileages.
Fridays Ride is for ALL Paces, a warm up and tour. We expect to start this ride at 4pm, at the front of the Dockside Inn.
Satrurday and Sunday;s Rides start at 9am and will have much longer routes with cut outs for those who wish to cut the ride short or are unable to keep up. The route is mostly flat and on bike paths. Once we pass West Tisbuty toward Aquinnah it gets hillier and no bike paths. Keep in Mind that Buses on the island have bike racks and can easly take slower riders to skp some sections and still enjoy the full "Island Experience" . We will also have a SAG vehicle avaialble for help as a lst resort. However, for imjuries call 911 , for Breakdowns look for a bus stop nearby first, and call tje SAG as a last resort as they might be 30+ miles away sagging the group.
Please make certain you keep cash on hand for the busses, Bus rates vary depeiding upon how many towns the route covers. Bikes are free.
There is a Very good bike shop in Edgartown, should you have a non rider repairable mechanical issue.
just to review, the main hotel is the Dockside in Oak Bluffs. All rides start there. You may stay wherever you like, just meet up at Dockside at start times.
RWGPS routes will be sent to Signed up riders a week beforehand.
