First Aid for Cyclists
Register Now!Tuesday, June 5
Learn the essentials of response and prevention of medical emergencies on the road.
Featuring Dr. Ed Fishkin, Medical Director of Woodhull Hospital, the program will provide basic information about trauma, first aid, and responsibilities of first responders.
Dr. Fishkin will give take home tips on how to prevent road injuries and go over traumatic injuries and medical conditions common to cyclists.
He'll give some tips on how to maximize the chance of full recovery after accidents and some recommendations for a personal cyclist's first aid kit.
This program will benefit the NYCC Kid's Ride Club ($5 tax deductible contribution included). Founded by Dr. Ed Fishkin. KRC is a 16-year-old program that introduces youngsters to cycling as great recreation, as a safe and effective means of transportation and encourages them to incorporate regular physical activity into their lives. The kids come from Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Long Island City. The club is run by a coalition of volunteers from Woodhull Hospital, Recycle a Bicycle, I.S. 318, P.S. 257, HealthFirst and New York Cycle Club.
Tailgate Party
Register Now!Saturday, June 9
Get out your grills and whip up your favorite summertime dishes and bring them to the Hillside Church in Armonk, just up the hill from the intersection of Route 22 and Cox Avenue. In true tailgate style, we will all be bringing food to share after rides, as well as beer and wine or whatever libation suits your fancy. Just bring enough for six people. Matt Turner, pastor at this church, is an avid cyclist and triathlete and is very excited about hosting some of our events. So sign up and let's party! And don't worry, there is plenty of parking. {Attention Leaders: Please contact Ride Chair, Victor Urvantsev, to volunteer to lead any of the Tailgate rides}
